(Non-Boring) Questions to ask your kids after school

Did any of your classmates do anything really… really funny? (be dramatic it helps get them taking)

Did anyone do anything super nice for you?  Or did you do something nice for someone?

What was the easiest/hardest thing you did today?

When did you feel most proud of yourself today?

What’s something new you tried or learned today?

If you had the chance to be the teacher tomorrow, what subject would you teach.

What is the best/worst thing(s) about your teacher(s)?

What was for lunch?  (This question always gets my kids taking about something). What happened in the cafeteria or how good/bad was the food?

Did someone get in enormous trouble at school today? What did they do? (I try to use bigger words, so they’ll ask me the meaning if they don’t know)

What are 3 things you are grateful for today? (We also do this every night before bed)

Did anything weird or different happen today?

Were you scared to try something or do something today? Were you brave and did it?

Did you notice anything today that other kids maybe didn’t notice? Did you tell anyone else what you noticed?

Was anyone kind to you today? How were YOU kind to someone?

Were you able to help someone today with something complicated for them? (again, try to use big words to get them asking questions)

Were any of your friends not at school today? Do you know why they were not there?

What would you change about your school?

What is the best part of your day?

Note- They can say pass on any of these questions. This is supposed to be fun not stressful for anyone.

Print this out and put it on your fridge. We have been getting some great conversation starters from the kids out of this list.
